We are looking for a Part-Time Purchasing Agent to join our team in Chico, CA! (onsite, M-F 7:00AM-1:30PM, under 30 hours a week) 

 

The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for the procurement of products in a cost-effective manner and to maintain inventory levels that are in line with overall customer needs and business goals. Purchasing involves ensuring that all products are obtained at the lowest possible cost, with the best negotiated freight rates, at a quantity level that provides the best possible price/delivery advantage. Purchasing includes the regular reevaluation of each product line, recommending stock level changes in accordance with usage requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Make necessary inventory allocations daily.
  • Assist daily backorder and/or special order purchasing. Review CSR order entry selections, make corrections to stock source, ship location and shipping methods as required. Review critically low stock items and combine with backorder purchases to make minimum PO values.
  • Ensure that purchase orders issued contain accurate and necessary information including the proper pricing information, quantities, and unit of measure.
  • Ensure that purchase orders are issued in a timely fashion and that supplier PO cutoff times are met. Ensure that customer service is updated on any changes to supplier PO cutoff times.
  • Process daily shipping and receiving errors. Enter PO notes on shortage/reships based upon supplier information received. Update expected delivery date on any line items to be reshipped. Update distribution center manager on employee specific receiving errors processed.
  • Review all RMAs within P21 and make return decision (to stock/to vendor/return to customer) based on vendor return requirements, and follow-up on pending returns to ensure timely processing.
  • Assist weekly, bi-weekly, and blanket stock buys to ensure that inventory stock levels are appropriate given customer demand while avoiding over/under stocking.
  • Follow established general company policies (shipping program policy including provisions for minimum order value, drop shipments and backorders, stock/nonstock inventory exceptions and RMA policies).
  • Work with customer service and/or warehouse staff to gather needed return to vendor data, as required. Utilize tool(s) established for communication and tracking, as needed. Follow-up on pending returns to ensure timely processing.
  • Cross train on other purchasing functions, as directed.

Qualifications

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • College degree a preferred. Must have high school education or GED.
  • Ability to work onsite in Chico, CA

Compensation Data

$21.00-$22.00 hour
