We are currently seeking a Sr. Prosthetic Technician at our Dallas, TX patient care clinic. The Sr. Technician fabricates highly-complex prosthetic products with advanced technical expertise. Our state-of-the-art facilities are equipped with advanced technology and you'll work closely with our care team to ensure precision, quality, and a perfect fit.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Fabricate a wide variety of high-complexity orthotic and prosthetic devices at a high level of quality and efficiency
- Apply advanced technical expertise in fabrication processes including casting, thermoplastics, trimming, textiles, posting, and repairs
- Demonstrate mastery in advanced techniques such as laminations, custom molded leather gauntlets, metal bending, and other specialized fabrication methods
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex or unexpected fabrication challenges while maintaining quality standards
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency
- Collaborate with clinicians to ensure products meet clinical specifications and patient needs
- Anticipate workload fluctuations and proactively manage tasks to support team productivity
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to technicians and team members
- Perform complex repairs and corrections while meeting deadlines and quality expectations
- Lead fabrication initiatives and support cross-departmental and cross-regional collaboration
- Assist clinicians with complex fittings as needed
- Promote a professional and collaborative work environment and support conflict resolution
- Ensure alignment with organizational standards, safety requirements, and quality expectations
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to technicians and team members
- Lead initiatives and support team development within the fabrication environment
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Demonstrated basic organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to completion in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with hand and power tools including the care and maintenance of equipment.
- Learn and maintain knowledge of orthotic/prosthetic design, fitting criteria, measurement tools and techniques including modification procedures, material science and planes of motion.
- Proficient understanding of computer programs such as MS Office and databases.
- Professionalism in conduct, appearance, and communication.
- Skilled in communicating with patients and employees effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively and participate with a team approach.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Understanding of medical terminology and basic anatomy.
- Background experience and proficiency in general fabrication procedures of orthotic prosthetic devices, which include working with thermal plastic, lamination, resin, metal, leather, plaster, and prosthetic/orthotic components. Some level of on-the-job training is anticipated.
- Formal technician training certificate and/or degree from an NCOPE accredited technician training program preferred.
- Qualified through experience working as an apprentice O&P Technician under the supervision of an ABC Certified Orthotic/Prosthetic Practitioner, Registered Orthotic/Prosthetic Assistant, and/or Registered Orthotic/Prosthetic Technician for a period of two years preferred.
